Item Description
Pair of items both dating to two different time periods when he was a member of the Philadelphia Athletics. The NSP is a 7.25x9.5" glossy. Attached newspaper caption on back includes "When Greek Meets Greek" and image is of Simmons in street clothes (he did not play due to injury) next to Sammy Gray of the St. Louis Browns as they hang out in the dugout of Shibe Park. Reverse has publication notations including ink stamp of 1928 for "Philadelphia Inquirer." Handling wear w/.5" bottom margin tear and aging to reverse. Image is clean and sharp. VG. The mailed postal card is 3.25x5.5" boldly signed on the front in pencil and Al adds "Best Wishes." 1948 Phila. postmark, during his time as coach for Mack's A's. Aging to card but Fine w/ bold and Exc. signature. Nice pair for this HOFer. Richard Merkin Collection and comes w/Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
