11.5x12.25x23" tall mechanical steel candy machine w/narrow glass window in the front. 1949. Three sides have illustrations of Dogpatch characters including - Li'l Abner, Daisy Mae, Mammy Yokum, Pappy Yokum and Shmoo. Machine offered four vending choices - "Daisy Mae Raisins (California Seedless Raisins), Li'l Abner Goobers (Selected Spanish Peanuts), Mammy Yokum Craws (Delicious Caramels), Pappy Yokum Delight (???????)." Appears to work, but no product is included. Original key present. Illustrations have some areas slightly darkened w/age, but remain strong. Top has scattered paint wear w/flakes off showing small areas of bare metal. Back left corner has dent w/majority of paint off in .75x1.5" area. Shallow .25" dent to Shmoo image of bottom right of machine front. Left side has two .5x.75" spots of missing paint/paint scuffs. Right side has 1" scratch at bottom. Metal on interior has scattered aging. Raised portion on underside has paint wear w/some oxidation. Fine overall. A fun piece to add to a comic character display.
