Item Description
Pair of 3.25x7-7/8" vintage photos shot at the same time and at the same studio show Cuban boxing legend Kid Chocolate (real name Eligio Sardinas) wearing dapper civilian attire as well as boxing trunks/gloves and in pugilistic stance. Both have been signed in black ink to same woman named Leticia, w/personal inscription in Spanish. Each has been boldly signed "Kid Chocolate" at bottom right. Civilian clothes photo has three small insect holes at top margin (not affecting his image) and tiny edge nick at bottom left. Fine. Boxing photo has five small insect holes at top, these extending further into photo image, though not directly affecting his image. Fine. Kid Chocolate was Junior Lightweight Champion from 1931-1933 and the NY World Featherweight Champion from 1932 to 1934. He won a total of 131 bouts, losing nine and six draws. Nice pair of photos to frame together. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOAs. Richard Merkin Collection.
