Item Description
First is 1-1/8” white metal with jugate portraits. This is listed as Hake #3328 although this piece does not have a shield shaped hanger joined to the small hole on the top edge of the token. Reverse reads “Republican Candidates 1892” and shows the “U.S. Capitol”. Small dent on the reverse by the hole. Rest is clean. Next is 1.5” brilliant luster aluminum listed as DeWitt 1892-2. Front has his name and portrait with “Protection To Our Citizens” while reverse reads “A Brave Soldier/Fearless Statesman/A Good Republican 1892.” NM. Last is a 1-7/8” sheet of embossed tin. Small hole at top once joined to an eagle hanger. Rim reads “Harrison-Reid And Protection 1892.” At the center is a long slogan although some of the lettering is faintly struck and the piece must be held in a certain light angle to be fully readable as “Protection’s Banner Guards Our Land, From England’s Greed And Pauper Pay And When I Play Great Britain’s Hand Please Take Me For A Blooming Jay.” NM.
