Item Description
Published in "Mad 84 - A Mad Extra" in 1984, story was written by Larry Siegel. Five thin artboards measuring between 17-5/8x25" and 19.25x25" w/India ink and ink wash original art. "Mad Visits The National B-S Academy" story featured "Dan Blather" (an obvious Dan Rather spoof) visiting school "Where We Train The Successful Executives, Industrialists, Professionals And Parents Of Tomorrow!" according to school founder and Chancellor Elwood Flam, who shows shoddy "Earthquake-Proof" shack built by graduate. Second page features scene of "Mass Indoctrination Center, which plays excuse messages to audience that includes Peppermint Patty and Marcie from "Peanuts." Story goes on to show professors and students teaching and answering in the most passive and frankly stupid manners imaginable. Story goes on to show inadequacies w/professionals taught at the school as well as Pepsi Challenge. All text blocks and dialog balloons are paste-overs. Each page has inked note at bottom left w/issue/page number/title notes. Margins have some editorial notes. Each page has also been signed in ink by Jack Davis. Comes w/five individual 4x6" color photos of him signing each page. First page has some minor scattered aging to edges of paste-overs and second page has crease at top right, but art o/w remains clean and will mat and frame to Exc. appearance. Superb graphics throughout.
