3.5x5.75" original glossy with full figure images of both men in dapper attire and standing between two storefronts. Clearly visible in one store window is a broadside with large text "Coming Homestead Grays." This photo dates to 1929-30, the years both men were on that team. Reverse has adhered surface paper as once scrapbook mounted. Lower right corner tip missing. Lt. handling wear mostly visible in reflected light. Few tiny spots of emulsion off bottom around their legs. Still glossy w/bold and sharp image. VG. Johnson is a HOF member (see previous item). Scales had a long career in the Negro Leagues for such teams as the Grays, St. Louis Stars, NY Lincoln Giants, NY Black Yankees, Baltimore Elite Giants among others. A rare and possibly unique photo.
