Item Description
Original 7x10" glossy with image taken on a ball field of owner Pompez at center in a suit flanked by his players in Cubans uniforms: Horacio "Rabbit" Martinez, Rogelio Linares, Gil Garrido and Pat Scantlebury. Last names of each written in ink on bottom margin. Alejandro "Alex" Pompez, in addition to owning the NY Cubans, was also owner of the Cuban Stars. He helped organize the first Negro League World Series in 1924. He became a scout for the NY Giants and eventually oversaw their Latin American operations. He was inducted into the National Baseball HOF in 2006.
Photo has extensive creasing. Lower right margin has jagged cut. Despite obvious wear, photo remains glossy and image is bold and sharp. Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
