Item Description
Original art for store ads and player picture transfers prototype premiums c. 1950s. Largest item is 12.25x23.5" stiff tissue sheet w/store sign art in inks and chalks. Sign pictures three examples also included in the related individual player portrait art. Lower right pictures an example product box for unidentified sponsor although name "Wagner's" is barely visible under the over-colored orange area beneath inscription "One With Each." Sheet has three original vertical fold creases, 1/8" snag on one of the transfer sheet examples. Second store item art is 2.5x9" shelf marker centered on 5x12" white art card. Back of card has gold foil crown sticker indicating a "Creation Of Sam Gold-Premium King." Transfer sheet player portraits are inked in either black, red or blue within a black pencil line border, all 4x7.5", size of the proposed actual transfer sheets. Each player portrait is named and then includes hand-lettered instructions for transfer application to fabric clothing or other cloth material. One 10.5x15.5" white art sheet pictures players Gil McDougald, N.Y. Yankees; Billy Pierce, Chicago White Sox; Ed Bailey, Cincinnati Redlegs. A second 6.5x9.5" white sheet has single transfer portrait of Billy Pierce, Chicago White Sox pitcher although differing from the portrait on larger sheet. A third 10.5x10.5" sheet is centered by two transfer images, one of Dale Long, Chicago Cubs and the other of an unidentified sliding player. Overall clean and Exc., unique. This item is a file copy from the Gold archives and is accompanied by a letter to that effect signed by Gordon Gold.
