Item Description
1" (25mm) brass listed as DeWitt-Sullivan MVB1836-4 and one of the few items from Van Buren's 1836 campaign. This piece was used as both a campaign item and is also considered Hard Times token. Obverse has his portrait circled by his name and stars while reverse shows the Temple of Liberty with various symbols of commerce below and the slogan at the top "Democracy And Our Country." Holed at top as issued and with three very tiny marks on obverse rim but extremely clean and bright. Fine.
