Item Description
7/8" (23mm) plus cord at top finished in rich purple velvet around brass center ring holding ferrotype portraits with names above the images of "G.B. McClellan" and "G.B. Pendleton." Similar to DeWitt-Sullivan 1864-52 but on that example only McClellan's last name appears whereas this example includes his initials of his first and middle name. McClellan ferro has hairline sliver as originally cut from far left edge but only visible the slightest bit and not at all detracting. The Pendleton side has some pinpoint missing emulsion dots on its extreme outer perimeter but again only the very slightest bit noticeable and the surface is about 98.5% perfect. One of the most beautiful of the relatively few ferrotypes issued for Lincoln's 1864 opponent.
