Item Description
8x10" matted 3.5x7.75" print shows "Lt. Terry Lee" portrait which has been hand-colored in watercolors by strip creator Milton Caniff. Inscribed in black ink "For Sylvia Jaslow, With My Very Best Wishes/Milton Caniff N.Y. 1945." Print has evenly aged and has a 1/8" moisture stain on Terry's cap. Fine. Comes with 7.25x10.5" typed letter on Milton A. Caniff letterhead dated January 12, 1945 to Miss Jaslow. Miss Jaslow sent Caniff a letter stating that her brother was in WWII and a friend of his had an uncanny resemblance to that of Terry. Caniff goes on to mention that there was no real-life counterpart to Terry but he thanks her for the correspondence and interest in Terry and the Pirates and that he was sending her aforementioned print. Letter has been folded twice horizontally as issued and again vertically and as such has some obvious wear and is VG.
