Item Description
8.5" dia. by 4.5" tall tin litho. 1930s. Made in Norway and has Disney copyright and is marked "Foblik" which stands for "Forenede Blikkfabrikker" (United Tin Factories). Originally held cookies by Saetre Kjeks (Saetre Cookies). Several Disney tins were produced for this company and all are rare. Tin features nice graphics w/lid featuring old dog character holding pretzel-shaped cookie and standing in front of stand w/"Kake" sign. Mickey Mouse's Nephews stand by him; one has dog pull toy. Rim edge bears "Walt Disney" name. Wraparound art on sides depict picnic scene w/Minnie Mouse holding cookie tin as Mickey chases after Nephews, who run w/cookies in hand. Tin shows all over moderate aging w/rim wear to lid and lid has shallow 2.5x5" indent and 1.5x2" indent as well as some scattered spots of oxidation. VG overall but rare and only the second we've offered in our 49 years. Doug & Pat Wengel Collection.
