Item Description
DeWitt 1864-95 with 15/16" diameter NM luster brass frame and with 1-1/8" vertical stickpin on the reverse complete with a small cut-out brass tab at the bottom to hold the pin in position. Frame reads "For President 1864" while above his image on the ferrotype is his name "A. Lincoln." The left grey background has six pinpoint sized circular grey marks which are all but invisible without magnification. The far left of his forehead has four pinpoint black circular marks for practical purposes invisible without magnification and in both areas there is no actual loss of the emulsion surface. A beautiful example with the ferrotype free of cracks, scratches, bubbles and similar defects. The very strong and easily seen image combined with the NM brass luster of the frame makes this a spectacular piece. Few known examples match the condition of this one.
