Item Description
Lot of nine sheets of artpaper, ranging from 4.5x6.75" to 6x9.25". Each features original pen and ink art by amateur artist Rich Shaw. c. 1941. All are of a naval ship theme, w/four depicting "Famous Ancestors USN" including John Paul Jones' ship Bonhomme Richard, battle of the Monitor and the Merrimack, USS Oregon in Santiago Bay and USS Panay. Others feature various navy ships imagined as women. These include - "The Carrier, The Transport, The Cruiser, The Destroyer" and "The Battleship," w/high society lady w/birds, Native American woman w/papoose on carrier board, veiled woman standing fog, seductive harem girl and rolling pin-tossing tough woman. All art is comical in nature and well done. Scattered glue staining to right margin of two larger sheets, o/w scattered handling/aging. Fine overall w/VF-Exc. art. See following item #1064.
