Item Description
14.75x20.75" wooden frame contains stiff paper that has been matted to 11x16.75". Paper features original art for ten different tattoo designs. Ink and watercolor art was created by noted 1930s tattoo artist W.R. King, who has signed art at lower right. Designs include large woman's face w/butterfly wings at top center, sailor women (including one w/"Capt. Of Hearts" name and another on anchor w/"U.S.N." letters), an anchor, pirate woman and woman wearing turban. Bottom left has inked "2" w/ penciled "3" to the right. Sheet has been varnished and as such has even moderate aging. King's work was included in Jason Brooks' book "Legends: Tattoos Flash Book." King's work was also included in the Kinsey Institute Gallery "Ephemeral Ink" exhibition in 2012. Two corners have chips and bottom margin has 1" tear but as framed, art displays Fine. Great vintage tattoo piece.
