Item Description
Original 5.5x8x5" deep cardboard box w/illustrated lid contains elaborate toy w/tin litho body, metal tower and hard plastic radar screen. Toy depicts space tracking system for Explorer and Vanguard, the first American satellites, both launched in 1958. Made in Japan by Structoys, late 1950s. Box lid has all over noticeable but even fade. Complete w/original cardboard insert tray. Box remains tight and Fine. Tin litho console has clear plastic window allowing for viewing tin litho world globe w/two tiny plastic satellites meant to revolve around it on wire rods. Console is wonderfully detailed and features two lights, on/off switch and "Code Signal Key" Morse Code device. Sides of console feature image of spaceman and rockets. Top of metal tower has electronic light and original Structoys cardboard string tag. Toy comes w/illustrated instruction sheet listing parts/features and include Morse Code key. Evenly aged and VF. Toy has a few small scattered nicks/scuffs, but is o/w bright, glossy and Exc. Although toy is old store stock, we could not get it to work. We can recommend a repair service if so desired.
