Item Description
The 1961 World Series matched the New York Yankees against the Cincinnati Reds, w/the Yankees winning in five games to earn their 19th championship in 39 seasons. Offered here is a 9.5x17" nicely made satin banner w/flocked text/images including Red Stockings mascot and "Yankees" logo. Embroidered gold tassels along bottom margin. Original metal strip/hanger at top. Banner is evenly aged and has some fold lines. Fine/VF. Scarce. Comes w/2.75x8.25" die-cut card that contains matched pair of 5.5" long plastic pen and mechanical pencil shaped like Louisville Slugger baseball bats. Each has "1961 World Series Souvenir - Yankees - Reds" and Louisville Slugger logo (which shows moderate wear on pencil). Card shows wear w/creases and has pencil and inked writing on back. Fine overall. Pen and pencil are Fine/VF. Scarce w/card.
