Item Description
Large 11x42" thin cardboard sign advertises the comics section of The Winnipeg Tribune newspaper. Early 1940s. Text reads in full "Read The Pick Of Comics Daily In The Winnipeg Tribune - A Southam Newspaper." Sign is illustrated w/large image of Alley Oop at left and large image of Superman at right. Other, smaller characters include - Henry, Big Chief Wahoo, Worry Wart, Freckles, Terry (from "Terry And The Pirates"), Major Hoople and Dick Tracy. Sign has some even lt. aging and streak of faint moisture staining along right margin but is VF/Exc. overall and as nice as any newspaper comics sign we've seen. Rare and only the second we've seen in our 49 years. Franco Toscanini Collection.
