Item Description
Pair of approx. 16x20.75" Craftint artboards w/original pen and ink art by Jack Davis (1924-2016) for "Sick" magazine #18 (1963). Two-page cartoon deals w/the making of the 1963 biographical film "PT 109" which told the World War II exploits of John F. Kennedy aboard the titular Naval vessel. Label paste-over notes "Characters: Pierre Salinger, Producer Irving Kahn, Director Keith Castor, And Costume Designer Evelyn Head." First page features just one illustration w/heavy dialog being paste-overs; some of which show wear. Two paste-overs are missing half of the strip. Second page has lower large area of lower left corner cut out and replaced w/cut-out featuring different art w/Salinger wearing pasha turban while talking on phone to JFK. Second scene shows director and producer acting out scene, pretending to be GOP Elephant pulling small pull toy of PT 109 boat. Artboards have had left/right margins trimmed and both show moderate margin aging and scattered handling wear/dust soiling. Fine overall w/VF art.
