Item Description
Near complete set of four artboards, measuring between 17.5x23.25" artboards w/pen and ink w/inkwash original art by Angelo Torres, an American cartoonist and caricaturist whose work has appeared in many comic books, as well as a long-running regular slot in "MAD" Magazine. Story is titled "Major Dud," an obvious spoof of the popular TV series "Major Dad" starring Gerald McRaney. Art was published in "MAD" Magazine #303 (June 1991). Story features great caricatures of characters played by McRaney and the cast as well as those of other TV shows, including "Designing Women" and "Sergeant Bilko." Of note, the Energizer Bunny appears in one panel while another features caricature of Saddam Hussein, labeled "S.O.B." Another panel features a number of popular toys of the time, including Batman, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Cabbage Patch Kids, Sesame Street as well as Captain America's shield. Larger last page features splash page portrait featuring the main cast as well as General Patton and Oliver North. All dialogue text are printed paste-overs. Bottom of each artboard has story page number/title/issue number. Each artboard has attached vellum overlay w/red areas indicating shading for final publication. Some lt. scattered aging and margin handling wear w/.75" tear to bottom of last page, but art is o/w clean and Exc.
