Item Description
28" long felt pennant w/streamers features silk-screened image of early racecar w/"Auto Races - Aug. 25-26, '11" text. Large "Elgin" name is stitched felt. The 1911 AAA Championship Car season consisted of 21 races, beginning in Oakland, CA and concluding in Savannah, GA. The de facto National Champion as polled by the American automobile journal "Motor Age" was Ralph Mulford and the winner of the inaugural Indianapolis 500 was Ray Harroun. Pennant has even aging to white portion and some scattered wear. Text/image remains distinct. Fine. Rare early automobile race pennant.
