Item Description
1.5x2-3/8" Cuban card produced for the Aguilitas Cigarette brand. The baseball cards are a subset featuring 44 players from the Cuban Professional League. This extensive 900 card set also featured movie and stage stars, boxers and other subjects.
Valentin "Sirique" Gonzalez played from 1890 to 1912 with several ballclubs, mostly with the Habana club. He also played for the Jacksonville Jays of the South Atlantic League in 1905 and 1906. He was elected to the Cuban Baseball Hall of Fame in 1939. This card is graded 40 VG 3 and is designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
