Item Description
15/16" w/St. Louis Button Co. back paper. The Union Party was an attempt by Father Charles Coughlin, Francis Townsend and Gerald L.K. Smith to advance Huey Long's 'Share The Wealth' program on the national level after his assassination. In 1936 the party nominated the New Deal champion North Dakota Congressman Lemke. Ultimately the candidate received 892,378 votes- roughly 2% share of votes cast. Surface wear in reflected light consistent w/minor use. Exc. displaying Mint. Rare and the first we can recall offering.
