Item Description
The Double V campaign combined a slogan with efforts to promote democracy abroad and within the United States for African Americans during World War II.  One V stood for victory over the Axis countries while the second represented the double victory for blacks fighting for freedom overseas and at home. The Pittsburgh Courier, an African-American newspaper, was the first to launch the campaign. First button is 7/8" and second is 1.25" both with W&H papers. Third is a 13/16" litho. All NM displaying Mint. Ted Watts Collection.
