Item Description
1.25" to 9" long. These four items were issued in association w/the release of a Warner Bros. picture during what was billed as "National Knute Rockne Week," which ran from Sept. 29 through Oct. 5, 1940. This group was saved by someone who had "Press" credentials. Group begins w/1.25" button w/"Knute Rockne All American - Warner Bros. Picture As Great As Its Hero!" text. Button has Pudlin, NYC backpaper. Spring pin holds "Guest" ribbon plus second ribbon naming the weeklong event w/dates. Ribbons show lt. wear w/the button remaining glossy and Exc. Next is a 6.5" long stiff paper w/blank reverse. Center has poster-like design naming movie, giving dates and locations "South Bend, Indiana Friday, October 4th." NM. Next is a 4.25" long stiff cardboard ticket stamped twice on the blank reverse "Press." Front has something torn off left side but ticket stub remains at right. This was a ticket to the "World Premier" naming the "Granada Theater" in South Bend. IN. Shows lt. wear and small corner crease. Fine. Last is a 6x9" booklet w/blue flocked cover and yellow spine cord. When opened there is an oval portrait of Rockne smiling through a die-cut oval at the center of a paper sheet, somewhat like onion skin paper which has the text "In Tribute To An All-Time All-American." Rest of booklet features page devoted to cast, page picturing stars Pat O'Brien, Gale Page and future president Ronald Reagan (although his name is spelled "Regan" beneath his photo). Next page is a collage of photo scenes from the movie followed by synopsis page. Next page thanks various committees and then there is a page titled "Thank God...We Live In America." Final page is titled "Rockne Triumphs" showing dates, teams and scores spanning 1918-1930. Booklet is NM. A rare group of items. See following Rockne and Notre Dame related buttons.
