Item Description
Reach Official AL (Johnson) baseball has been signed by 20 members of the 1927 Philadelphia Athletics. Ball has been signed by HOF members Ty Cobb, Jimmie Foxx, Mickey Cochrane (signed twice), Lefty Grove, Al Simmons, Eddie Collins, Zack Wheat as well as Ira Thomas, Howard Ehmke and Walter French, William "Kid" Gleason, Joe Mellana, Charlie Bates, Ralph "Cy" Perkins, Jimmy Dukes, Rube Walberg, Rusty Saunders, Jing Johnson and Roy Thomas. Ball is 1926-1927 model, w/text remaining the same as the 1925 model w/exception of the patent stamp on the sweetspot which now reads "Pat'd Mar. 17-25." Cobb's signature on side panel is bold and distinct, the largest signature on the ball. Tiny surface hole at Reach logo and ball has even coating of shellac, which has a few tiny scattered flakes, mostly not affecting signatures. Ball is VG overall. Comes w/5.5x7.5" framed photo that has been edited for newspaper publication. Photo shows Jimmie Foxx w/"Pottstown Mascot Race" winner John Yeargey, who would go on to serve as batboy for Pottstown team, where he would meet Foxx. Photo also comes w/two sheets of newspaper clippings detailing the race. Ball comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
