Item Description
5-1/8x15.75" thin artboard w/India ink original art by Fred Lasswell, an artist best known for his decades of work on "Barney Google And Snuffy Smith." Art is for Sept. 11, 1943 and features three panels, w/Snuffy Smith (in soldier's uniform) approaching officer, asking when he can "Git My Rifle Ball" as someone has taken a potshot at him, damaging his helmet. The officer replies that Africa is calm, causing Snuffy to take off his helmet and ask "Do I Look Like A Stooker Dive-Bomber??", referring to Germany's Junkers Ju 87  aircraft, commonly referred to as a Stuka. Lasswell has signed last panel. Second panel has two King Features Syndicate copyright strips. Some blue pencil notations at upper right margin and margins have some scattered dust soiling but art remains clean and is Exc. overall.
