Item Description
6-5/8x23" artboard has Al Capp's pencil and ink original art for June 14, 1941 daily strip. Strip features four panels, showing two gangster type characters listening to the "Flying Avenger" radio show (which featured Li'l Abner as the titular character). In the show, the Flying Avenger is about to defeat gang of Supergangsters only to end on cliffhanger and for announcer to continue story, including throwing "Superbomb" out of the window. Both gangsters are on the edge of their seats at last panel announces that the Flying Avenger did in fact fall out of the window himself. The Last panel has United Feature Syndicate, Inc, paste-over strip. Penciled title at top left margin reads "Go Natcherly!!" Additional blue pencil editorial note is beside this. Capp has signed last panel. 3/8" tear at top margin. Scattered aging and handling wear w/4.25x5.5" area of moisture staining to last panel (not affecting Capp's signature). Some flaking of white correctional fluid, but not overly distracting. Fine overall.
