Item Description
Eleanor Roosevelt was the guest of honor and speaker at this January 22, 1935 banquet held in conjunction with the event titled on the badge as "Conference/Cause And Cure Of War".  Badge is cardboard name tag held in 2.25" clear plastic cover with 1930s safety pin on case back and card back has ink inscription (same hand as front text) "Fed. of Business & Professional Women's Clubs".  Front is probable ink signature of attendee "Amelia B. Moorfield" (1876-1950) who was both a suffragist and peace activist. The group's first conference in 1925 grew out of Spring 1924 meeting of nine diverse women's organizations meeting at request of Carrie Chapman Catt to see if the groups could work together with less duplication of effort. She became the first leader. Annual conferences were held 1925 through 1940. Rare and NM.
