Item Description
First is slightly convex large brass shell over white metal oval 2-5/8" x 3.5" with robed bust of Scott which has P.H. Jacobus on the lower edge of the bust. Light age and with 1" long hairline scratch just to the left of the bust. Reverse has 2 of original 3 metal loops for attachment and small bit of surface rust at right. Fine.  DeWitt notes that following the Mexican War survivors of Pennsylvania regiments formed a group named the Scott Legion and used this as their uniform emblem.  Unlisted in Hake and first we've been able to offer in 50 years. CDV by Fredricks & Co, NYC, has faint but readable title "Generals Of Our Army 1861".  Individual names in tiny but darker and readable text include Scott at center as leader with "Lieut. Gen" title and he is surrounded clockwise by: McClellan, Dix, Banks, Lyon, Wool, Anderson (see ferrotype stickpin #51), and Butler. Minor age traces. VF.
