Item Description
Lot includes three pieces featuring mixed media original art for proposed gas station 3D premiums. 1950s. 9x14" sheet of vellum has lead pencil art for proposed 3D premium viewer, w/eyeholes showing cans of "Esso Motor Oil." Bottom left has "Esso" logo paste-over. Sheet has hand-lettered text including "Large Facsimile Viewer - As Banner Or Display" text at lower right. Some scattered glue staining and handling wear w/two horizontal creases. Fine overall. Pair of 3.75x6" 3d booklets shaped like cans of "Esso" and "Havoline" motor oil each feature mixed media original art front/back covers. "Esso" booklet opens to 6x15" and has four "3-D Travel Pictures" glued in place (w/glues staining from fifth, which is missing). Some lt. aging but VF/Exc. overall. "Havoline" booklet has no such pictures, but some scattered glue staining as once mounted. Fine overall. Neat concept. Something very unique for the petroliana collector. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
