Item Description
In our last auction, we offered two similar "Space Man" signs, both of which were clearly marked for Post premiums. The 12.25x24" sheet of paper w/mixed media original art for "Space Men Badges" is not marked but instead is implied by indistinct package design at right. 1950s. In addition to package image, sign also features great art of boy and girl in spacesuits and helmets, boy pointing to "Captain" badge on his chest while girl wears badge emblazoned w/rocketship image. Hand-lettered text reads "12 Different Badges In The Series!" and goes on to note these embossed metal badges were to be available "Free Of Extra Cost! - No Money! No Box Tops! One In Every Package Of" w/space for product name obscured by block symbols. Badge examples appear above box at upper right and show girl's badge is that of "Space Ship Pilot." Boy's badge is shown as well among "Commander" and "Martian Chief" badges. Sheet has horizontal fold line w/three vertical fold lines. Fine overall. Exceptional prototype. Unique.
