Item Description
7x7" die-cut paper w/mixed media original art for premium song book featuring characters from Carl Ed's long-running "Harold Teen" comic strip. 1930s. Cover features hand-lettered "100 Popular Songs - hit Tunes Of Famous Song Writers" and shows "Harold Teen" characters Harold, Lillums, Pop Jenks, Shadow and others on back as well. First two inner pages have painted borders (w/musical notes) w/illustrations of Shadow dancing w/word balloon reading "Hit Me With A Hot Note An' Watch Me Bounce!" Portrait of Harold on second page has word balloon that reads "C'mon Folks Let's Chant Out A Lullaby!!" These pages each have four sections w/lines provided for sheet music. Remaining pages are blank. Penciling at top of back cover. Front cover has some paint wear to "100 Popular Songs" text, w/small paint flakes (though text remains legible) Fine/VF overall. Neat prototype for this beloved comic strip. Unique. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
