Item Description
2.5x4" miniature comic book featuring mixed media original art on covers and one of more illustrations per page, including several full page illustrations. Of note, two-page centerfold spread features Frank Buck-inspired jungle scene showing capture of tiger. 1940s. Front cover is designed like wall covered in circus posters, w/nicely hand-lettered "Big Top" title text and image of bucktoothed clown holding duck. Pages features lines for text to come and includes some highlights titles like "The Old Pitchman, The Old Timer's Tale" and "Joey Gives You Some Circus Talk." Illustrations include clowns, circus train, circus animal parade and lion tamer. Back cover features non-distinct ad for product, showing pair of clowns holding product package. This concept later morphed into the 1946 "Post Circus Book" premium (see following lots #2191-2192). Back cover has tiny corner tip off and book shows some lt. scattered handling wear. VF overall.
