Item Description
Lot of three prototypes for premium promotion issued as Post "Sugar Crisp" box inserts in 1953. ACC# F278-20. There are 12 numbered panels for a total of 24 cards which have photos of Roy Rogers, Dale Evans, Trigger, Buttermilk and Bullet. Lot includes 14.75x23" sheet of paper w/mixed media original art for sign promoting the premium cards. Art features Roy Rogers portrait beside box of Post's "Sugar Crisp." Premium cards and viewer are seen sticking out of top of box. Image of boy using the viewer to look at card at left. Hand-lettered text reads "Roy Rogers 3 Dimension Pictures With 3-D Viewer In Every Package." Additional text notes "12 Different Sets In The Series - 4 Different Pictures In Each Set." Heavy vertical crease at center w/some scattered margin wear, including piece of tape at lower left. 7/8" and 2.25" tears at top center. VG/Fine overall. 12.25x18-5/8" sheet has lead/colored pencil original art for prototype "Shelf Card" as noted by penciled text below art. Sign is all hand-lettered text similar that on sign prototype. Vertical crease right of center w/4.5" corner crease at lower right and scattered handling wear/dust soiling. Fine overall. Comes w/4.5x5-3/8" cut-out and assembled panel featuring mixed media original art for prototype of panel image that would appear on front of cereal box. Hand-lettered text on attached stiff paper strip reads "A Set Of 3 Roy Rogers Western 3rd Dimension Pictures And A Junior Viewer In This Package!" w/image of Roy on Trigger at right and children using viewers at top. Additional viewer image at bottom. Exc. Great lot of unique pieces related to this classic 1950s premium. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
