Item Description
1-1/8" and about 1/8" larger than the standard frame. Each frame side has candidate's name above with slogan below. The emulsion on both photos is completely covered in microscopic craze lines and there are also about a dozen slightly raised filiform corrosion lines on each side. However, these marks are seen in reflected light and barely at all on direct viewing as the emulsion remains intact with three exceptions. On Douglas there is a .25" horizontal hairline scratch below his eyes.  Also, on lower left a .25" scratch starts left of his collar and goes to the dark area of his shoulder. Both marks are barely seen without magnification. On Johnson, there is a tiny 1/16" tan oxidation mark on extreme outer edge at 2 o'clock. Moderate luster remains on the frame. While the defects sound severe, visually they are quite minor. Both images display clearly with almost no apparent defects. DeWitt lists only four larger Douglas ferrotypes and three of those are in the doughnut style frames. Scarce and Fine.
