Item Description
Billy Mitchell (1879-1936) was a United States Army general who is regarded as the father of the United States Air Force. Mitchell served in France during World War I and, by the conflict's end, commanded all American air combat units in that country. After the war, he began advocating increased investment in air power, believing it vital for future wars. He argued particularly for the ability of bombers to sink battleships. Offered here is 4-3/8x5.5" autograph album page w/1x4" clipped vintage "Wm. Mitchell" fountain pen signature w/partial 1929 postmark. Clipping has some uneven aging but aside from postmark is o/w clean and VF. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOA.
