Item Description
Sizes are 13/16" to 1". In row five the fourth button is a litho and in row six the second and fourth items are litho with the third item enamel on brass. These last two items of row six are those related to vivisection. The first in brass and blue enamel is from the "British Union/Abolition Of Vivisection." C. 1950s or earlier. Last is c. late 1940s with text on reverse "For Literature Write To National Anti-Vivisection Society Inc." with address in Chicago. The other items are 1930s going back to the WWI era. These early ones begin with a pair of buttons for the "American Red Star/Animal Relief" and the "Red Star Junior League." Each has a back paper from Albany, NY group appealing for funds although second one is missing about half the paper. Third is for early animal group with title "Rhode Island Band Of Mercy." Fourth is early "S.P.C.A. Issue." All in row two relate to S.P.C.A. Rows 3-4-5 and the first two items of row six relate largely to Animal Rescue Leagues or Junior Humane Societies. Of these 14 buttons, seven have some degree of tan stain showing. Many early and scarce issues. Various conditions but averaging Fine or better.
