Item Description
Lot of three thin cardboard items related to 1930s ventriloquist premium, each w/mixed media prototype original art. 10x16.5" front cover for "Ventriloquism With 5 Famous Comics Talking Figures" book features image of child ventriloquist w/"Ventriloquist 'Mouth-Mask'" using Dick Tracy Talking Figure to give show. Bottom of cover has strip paste-over featuring four panels of original art featuring the other four figures in the set - Little Orphan Annie, Smitty, Moon Mullins and Lillums. Hand-lettered text reads "These Comic Ventriloquist Figures Actually Open And Close Their Mouths." Left margin is slightly uneven and lower margin shows some scattered wear. Right margin has some aging to yellow area. Fine overall. Comes w/pair of approx. 8x20.25" two-piece assembled Smitty and Lillums (from "Harold Teen" strip) ventriloquist figures, each w/their name on front. Horizontal folds at waist and knees as designed to sit on user's lap. Die-cut holes at eyes and mouth reveal attached panel on back that can be moved. Some scattered wear/dust soiling w/a few creases here and there. Fine overall. Unique lot for the comic character collector. From the archives of premium creators Sam & Gordon Gold and comes with LOA.
