Item Description
11-5/8x23.75" sheet of vellum has mixed media original art for premium sign advertising "Free Plastic Space Rocket And Launcher" premium issued w/Scotch Brand Cellophane Tape, 1957. Art shows detailed images of "Plastic 3-Dimensional Space Rocket" and "Rubber Band Launcher" at left w/image of children launching said premiums at right. Sign also features image of package of Scotch tape w/premium vacuform sheet. Pin holes at corners w/six vertical creases and some scattered handling wear. Fine/VF overall. Back has "A Creation Of Sam Gold - Premium King" foil crown sticker. Unique. Comes w/six 2-3/8x3.5" Vacuform plastic sheets w/punch-out parts for what the Plastic Space Rocket and Launcher premium advertised on the prototype sign in this lot became. Issued one per roll of Scotch tape, each sheet comes w/punch-out parts for Flying Saucer and Launcher. Ships' names include - "Space Patrol G-7, Mars X57, Mercury DX-70, Saturn Express RJ471, Moon Saucer X-8" and "Star Flyer." Directions printed on backs. Even aging w/some scattered wear (all but "Star Flyer" having roofs of saucers pushed in, most lightly and barely noticeable) and some denting to raised section marked "25¢." Fine/VF to Exc.
