Item Description
Box w/nicely illustrated lid contains 7-7/8" long by 4.5" tall (5.75" tall w/separate plastic radar dish in place) tin litho tank w/plastic cockpit dome. Made in Japan by TM Modern Toys/Masadaya, 1960. Box is complete w/cardboard insert and shows just lt. corner tip wear to lid. VF. Toy was produced w/several different colored domes, this is green dome version. When switch on side (by "Space Patrol" name) is turned on, toy travels about w/clicking mechanical sound, antenna revolves and illuminated dome shows rotating silhouette space images including comets, spaceships, etc. Box text mentions non-fall action however a design flaw prevents this function from working. When modern batteries are inserted, their weight causes the front of the toy to raise up, preventing the non-fall action from engaging. Toy is o/w glossy and NM.
