Item Description
Large and impressive 23.5" tall painted cast plaster figural moth body w/lighted bulb eyes. This rare 1920s display is one of the most unique store displays we have seen. Incised "Cenol" name on front of moth's body. Moth's mandibles are brightly painted and eyes are two red 10 watt lightbulbs of the period. When display is lit, it presents a striking appearance. Exterior cord is a replacement while interior has original silk-wrapped cord cast into piece. Display originally came w/black pipe cleaner legs and antenna (body having holes for their placement) and cardboard wings w/additional company advertising text. Images of complete displays are available online if winning bidder would like to have replacement legs and wings crafted. As is, figure makes for fantastic display, especially when lit. Comes w/12-3/8x14-5/8" die-cut countertop standee from the same time period, advertising "Cenol Moth-Proof" solution, showing canister of the product and image of woman examining her fur coat w/"My Moth Worries Are Over!" text. Heavy moisture staining and surface paper rippling along bottom. Good/VG overall.
