Item Description
8.25x8.75" high relief thin Vacuform plastic Halloween mask for Underdog. Collegeville, 1970s. Plastic mask has been completely hand-painted and has separate die-cut face overlay. Mask has orange color covered by this overlay, which features tan color closer to produced masks' appearance. Mask is marked "Original" in blue ink on inside, Collegeville's way of identifying it as a unique prototype. Orange surface has six thin strips of tape used to secured overlay, which have since loosened. Tiny traces of edge wear and lt. scattered paint wear but VF overall. Interesting prototype showing the different color considered for this very popular costume. Mask comes w/7.75x8" sheet of vellum cut out in the shape of the mask w/lead pencil original art for Underdog mask. 3/8" hole at top center as produced. Even lt. aging and some minor handling wear. VF. Truly one of a kind lot for the Underdog collector. From the Collegeville Archives (see other Collegeville items throughout the auction).
