Item Description
12-5/8x19" first printing poster for April 1994 tribute to Chet Helms (1942-2005), a music promoter and a counterculture figure in San Francisco, CA during its hippie period in the mid to late 1960s who is often called the father of 1967's "Summer of Love." Additionally, Helms was the founder and manager of Big Brother and the Holding Company and recruited Janis Joplin as its lead singer. Due to his association w/The Family Dog, poster design by noted '60s concert poster artist Stanley Mouse features cartoonish take on the Family Dog logo, replacing the top hat-wearing Native American w/a dog, referred to as "The Good Ol' Dog" in poster text. Banner across design reads "What Goes Around, Comes Around." Bottom margin has small printing/copyright text. Mouse has signed in black felt tip pen at lower right, adding wonderful cartoon mouse character that is somewhat reminiscent of Rat Fink. The mouse wear a t-shirt w/a wide open eyeball, another node to '60s poster designs. Minor corner bumps but still NM overall. Comes with Hake's COA. Rick Synchef Collection.
