Item Description
Pair of cards signed in black ink by author/illustrator Palmer Cox (1840-1924), best known for The Brownies, his series of humorous verse books and comic strips about the mischievous but kindhearted fairy-like sprites. The Brownies were among the first comic characters utilized to sell products, everything from figurines to cameras. 5.5x6-3/8" cardboard has 3.5x4-3/8" card mounted to it, which has cut-out Cox portrait beside his bold signature, Cox adding "Brownieland - June 21st 1895" below. Upper left features small inked portrait of gentlemanly Brownie known as The Dude. Cardboard has some corner tip wear, but mounted card is evenly aged w/signature/inscription and original art displaying Exc. Comes w/2-7/8x5-3/8" card w/blank ink signature and "Brownieland. 1913." notation/date. Upper left features full color original art of another Brownie character. Card has minor corner tip wear but all else is Exc. Comes with Hake's COA and JSA LOAs.
