Item Description
"The Mask Of Fu Manchu" was a 1932 pre-Code adventure film based on the 1932 novel of the same name by Sax Rohmer and directed by Charles Brabin. The film is notable for starring Boris Karloff in the title role as Fu Manchu and Myrna Loy as his depraved daughter. Offered here are two items released to promote the film. 6.75x9.75" die-cut stiff paper mask that was issued as a movie theater giveaway has bold "The Mask Of Fu Manchu" title across forehead and Fox Curren Theatre imprint on chin. Aged/hardened remnants of original rubberbands at ears. 7/8" crease at top center. Back has some glue staining w/paper residue as once mounted, but this does not affect front's display, which remains Exc. Great design. Rare. Comes w/2" matchbook w/Pioneer Meats imprint surrounded by dragon on cover w/same dragon design circling Fu Manchu portrait and film text. Matches are figural depictions of Fu Manchu himself and only one has been used. Scattered lt. edge wear w/trace oxidation to staple. Fine/VF.
