Item Description
Pair of glossy 1943 news service photos, featuring baseball and golf, each w/Anti-Axis theme. 8x10" photo shows New York Giants players Harry Feldman, Bill Lohrman, Sid Gordon, Thomas Sunkel, Cliff Melton and Hugh East pitching baseballs at targets of Mussolini, Hitler and Tojo as crowd watches. Back of photo has dated typed caption sheet w/handwritten notes and two stamps as well as newspaper caption clipping. Photo has even aging and some scattered handling wear w/corner creases. Fine. 6x8" photo shows "Golf Girl" Noel Neill (of later "Superman" TV fame) w/golfers Lloyd Mangrum, Johnny Dawson, Joe Kirkwood Jr. and Olin Dutra, each w/raised golf clubs about to strike two huge golf balls that have sculpted caricatures of Hitler and Tojo. Back of photo has dated typed caption sheet w/penciling and two stamps. Photo has some lt. handling/corner tip wear w/some scattered age spots. Fine/VF overall.
