Item Description
2x2-5/8" Cuban card issued as a premium by Billiken brand cigars. Cards in this set feature players from the 1923-24 Cuban Professional League. The set includes 15 cards each for the four teams that participated that season: Almendares, Habana, Marianao, and Santa Clara. Glossy front features a B&W photo, players name and team. The back of the card has an ad for "Billiken." Cards in this elusive set are among the scarcest and most popular of the pre-war Cuban issues.
Oscar Levis was a Panamanian pitcher in the Negro Leagues and Cuban Leagues. He played from 1921 to 1931 with the Cuban Stars (East) and the Hilldale Club. He had a lifetime record of 56-55. Designated by SGC as being from the "Richard Merkin Collection" and comes with Hake's COA.
