Item Description
3.25x5.5" vintage matte postcard depicting 14 ballplayers dressed in full uniform along with an individual in formal attire, likely a manager and/or owner. The Altoona (PA) ball club of 1906 was a member of the independent Tri-State League. Managed by Arthur Irwin, the Mountaineers would have a total of eight players go on to play Major League Baseball. Most notable ballplayers from that team are: Charles Baum, George Bell, Al Burch, Tom Daly, Pep Deininger, Tim Flood, Bill Gannon, Charles Schwartz, Charlie Shields, George Starnagle and Billy Stroh. Won-loss records from the 1906 Tri-State League season are unconfirmed. Postcard has an undivided back and is unused. Exc. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake's COA.
