Item Description
3.25x5.5" vintage matte postcard depicting 11 ballplayers in full uniform along with five gentlemen dressed in formal attire posed in a photography studio setting. "Photo Copyrighted By Van Norman" appears below the designation "The Champions of the Connecticut State League" at the bottom of the postcard. All player names along with their positions on the diamond are printed just below the team photo with John Hummel and Chick Hartley being the team's two biggest stars, both batting well over .300 during the 1905 season. No win-loss records from the Class B 1905 Connecticut State League season have been confirmed. A handwritten note appears on the front of the postcard in the lower right-hand corner and the undivided back has been postally cancelled with a date stamp of September 25, 1905. Upper right-hand corner has a .5" piece missing from the corner, otherwise postcard presents very well. VG. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with a Hake's COA.
